This accessibility statement applies to the register for fluorinated gases, ozone depleting substances and ozone depleting substances for laboratory or analytical purposes. This website is run by the Environment Agency. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

• Not all text and background colors have enough contrast. Some users find it hard to read light gray text on a white background, dark gray text on a black background and white text on a red background (this fails success criterion WCAG 2.1 AA 1.4.3 Section 508 (2017) AA 1.4.3).
• Not all text and background colors have a 7:1 contrast ratio (this fails success criterion WCAG 2.1 AA 1.4.3 Section 508 (2017) AA 1.4.3).
• There’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option).
• There may be some problems encountered using a screen reader or speech recognition software, such as no option to skip to main content.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are conducting further accessibility testing and will be making corrections to fix identified accessibility issues.

Navigation and accessing information

• Displaying new windows with a blank label can be very confusing to non-sighted and mobile users (this fails success criterion WCAG 2.1 AAA F22).
• Some technical language may appear as spelling errors or confusing for screen reader users.

Interactive tools and transactions

Our forms are built and hosted through third party software and ‘skinned’ to look like our website.

We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with interactive tools and transactions. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will review the accessibility of the website and the implementation of potential improvements every 6 months.

Other documents

To provide an alternative means of providing the data, we provide an excel spreadsheet form that is essential to providing our services. However the website provides a partially compliant accessibility journey for the same functionality.
